Shear magic

This 380sqm luxury farmhouse, inspired by the classic Kiwi woolshed, sits on a ridge overlooking this beautiful harbour. Built on the site of a century-old woolshed, it shares the same size, form, and materials, such as corrugated iron and timber. Recessed openings, glass louvres, and classic sliding doors enhance its rustic charm. Durability was a priority, with galvanised corrugate and ply lining ensuring a weatherproof shell.

Inside, stylish birch ply linings and Terra Lana insulation provide high thermal performance. A concrete floor keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter, with in-slab heating on the ground floor. The four-bedroom home features a double-height void, a bridge with rimu river-wood balusters, and two 5m-high timber sliding doors for wind protection and shade. The portico, one of three outdoor spaces, wraps the house, and an infinity pool visually connects the home to the harbour. This is a stylish, robust, family-friendly shed.
